Harold, The Poster

by Ben Whitehouse.

Harold PosterDyna Moe has released this fantastic poster outlining the Harold improv form for just $7 at CafePress. As a visual person, I find this clear visual representation of the Harold form completely understandable. Considering how much I hear improvisers asking in class if instructors could go over the form one more time this would be an invaluable tool.

They should really sell these at every improv school.

Plus you’re supporting an independent artist and performer.

PS why is the harold form so confusing for some people?? There is a running joke with my team at IO that before we perform a harold someone has to freak out and ask to be reminded the form…because this actually was the case..for about two months after we were put on a team..yikes.

I’m really not sure. Once I was explained the Harold form — it stuck. I have no problem remembering it in concept. Get me in a Harold and I still occasionally miss the beginning of a presentational group game and mistake it for an odd beat… but that’s solely my problem of not counting scenes.

I’m also well below the 100 Harolds that Matt Besser reckons you need to play before you begin to understand the form.

If I ever head up to Chicago I’ll definitely come see your show.
